PRAYER FOR MODESTY

When the stage gets high
And the camera light blinds
I hope modesty still finds
…me to stay, not to bid goodbye
For life dragged me through the gutters for a reason
To know many a season
And work in the clothes of fairness
To create an atmosphere to harness
…hope in the struggling
And to sustain love in the heart of the strangled

II
When the stage gets overlit
And impatient teeth bite
Be sure to fortify my tongue as kit
One who restrains horrid words to smite
…unpleasantness
To sustain my humility and grow my sweetness

III
For attitudes are chameleonic
They mirror what is and grow what fits
Fame can be acidic
Melting respect to form rudeness to fit the glits
May I always remember the doors of penury
And be slow to judge the struggling in a hurry
Because this is a life I’ve explored
One which has had me floored and abhored
All for a reason
A reason to bless all seasons
…for the rest of my lifetime

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
