Aduse Poku
…raise an eye from your ancestral palace
…and come see
What used to cast us into bins
Now headlights beauty to fit us in
Nana,
…just open an eye to see
…what used to bring us shame
…and was thought too lame
…needing to like an animal, be tamed
…now bringing us fame
II
When priceless was made less
And priceful was made expensive
The world was truly upside down
The former used to put on fires of self doubt
…and low esteem
The latter was made pompous
…over a boughtful feat
But now truth turns the tide
And I’m enjoying the ride
III
Just as fishes value their fins
And birds value their wings
Days run from the future toward us
…holding the unending structure of our value
And it is pretty
…as well intelligent
IV
Fighters are holders of these torches
So your lasses have great futures being built
…in wait for them
So Aduse Poku
…raise your eyes and see your kind
…building on your independence and greatness
…which was deemed crazy
…climbing in freedom
With their black skins

These words need to be read by more people. I tell the young black children. You come from great people. Stand tall and strong. Know your history and stand for the right. Outstanding poetry dear poet.
