A SAFE NEST FOR YOU

As the wise Asante studied
The creative spider at work for shelter
And wove the beautiful kente
Which has become the Asantes pride
I will study the rainbows of heaven
And carve the most beautiful colours
Study the brightest of suns
And tap its light
Study the most innocent of darkness
And create for you some peace
And a safe place of forever trust
Just for you

As God studied one of the smallest but smartest animals
The world hosts
And told the most intelligent of creation
To make them their tutors
I will work in this ant-like frame
Risking being stepped on
Risking being burnt
Risking being blown into destruction
Hoping to be identified by your godlike mind
As the smartest of being to be dedicated to

There is no way I will put on a mask
To hide anything from your presence
If anything I will be your mask
Masking your sorrows in happiness
Letting your eyes’ rivers and seas bath my inners
And drying them for your safe return
When hurdles turn into pain blows and seek you out

I will be that sacred temple
Where only your feet can enter in prayers
The only grounds all evil spirits dare not step
The only place you can let your guard down
To shout
Wriggle
Curse
Groan or moan
With no questions from none
Just know I will be that safe nest
Always
Just for your honourable self
