BITTEN BY THORNS OF CUPID

I have been bitten by the thorns of cupid

Its teeth chewing deep into the bones of my heart,

Its claws digging deep into my knee bones

Rendering me immobile

I have been bitten by the thorns of cupid

Like a fool, I saw only its beautiful roses

Like a fool,I decided to decorate the chambers of my heart with its roses

But it hid its thorns under its beauty and stepped in

I have been bitten by the thorns of cupid

No one sees it within,

I cannot say I opened this heart and let it in for fear of mockery

All I can do is wince quietly in pain

I have been bitten by the thorns of love

I am bleeding internally

But mouths sing of its beauty and give it praises

When I am dying from within

I’ll probably end in the grave

Sad thing I cannot a soul save

From its claws

Sweet love, carnivorous thorns, unfortunate I only feel the latter.
