I
Uncouth love
May I never find myself in an uncouth love
Where private affairs act like funny songs
…on varied airwaves
As many mouths sing versions that suit their own ears
II
Uncouth love
May I never find my private affairs wearing public shame
With unknown-affaired-fingers pointing at them
As teeth I’ve never seen laugh at what might
…and might not have happened
III
Uncouth love
May my “she did this” and “he did that”
…and “that led to that” not parade on public podiums
Preaching disgust to some
…acting lessons to few
…and being a skit to most
As eyes judge from many a pointless view
IV
For whenever I choose an other
I go not to a public market
And whatever I do with the other
I pose not on a public television
Since two can play games so lame
…that some can end in shame
The secret of the beginning must be the secret of an end
So may I never ever
…find myself in an uncouth love
As that can hang public my rags
…for vultures to peck on its torn seams
