A mouth is only efficient
…when breath added to sounds is its co-efficient
Ears are definitely the tunnels
…to the soul and help greatness sink in through its channels
Many a great men have fallen without praise
…only for many praises to rain on their gone
…as though it could form their “raises”
A very unfair phenomenon
…not a good harmonicon
II
So I celebrate the celebration of oration!
Oh I celebrate the celebration of scholarship!
Yes, I celebrate the celebration of a living Education!
Mmm, I celebrate the celebration of Prof. Kofi Anyidoho
The Earthchild with a wild-pen
…which orders knowledge in storage for all who care to manage
…to have courage
III
Who is not in awe of his celebration?
He who pours knowledge like porridge to discourage many an ignorance marriage
…in a promising mental-forage
Hoping for a knowing even in many a humble cottage
Isn’t he the one who uses words to give colonial minds hemorrhage
…to give hope an advantage even at an obvious disadvantage?
III
LitAG is not a mirage
LitAG is not a sabotage
LitAG is the structured stage for higher schooling and grooming
…in an African setting that needs its own doings
And its acknowledgement of Legend Anyidoho
…is a premise of a great promise
IV
So we acted vessels to show him parts of his toil on perfecting learning soil
Yes, we took turns to turn back pages of the stages where he cooked stubborn minds to boil
Truly, we acted his words into life
…to showcase our probable emptiness of his without
As he watched and listened and felt
Eyes on all
Ears on all
Minds on all
This is the real celebration which uproots guilt
…to plant peace in consciences in lifetimes of gratitude
V.
This is where academics got it right
Appreciating minds which worked through fright
…to turn up their might
…into scholarship so bright
Filling gaps which definitely pushes Africans a step towards success
Long Live Prof. Anyidoho!
Long live African Scholarship!
Long live the Literature Association of Ghana!
Long live Ghana!
