THE BANANA REPUBLIC

Once upon a time
Unfairness with a republic did rhyme
Black coloured people were considered donkeys
As pink coloured people held their whips
…hitting and calling them monkeys
While making them work on everything including building chips

They tampered with many brown minds
And reduced them to brainless finds
Until one brown mind broke through the windy torture
And got for them a structure

They were donkeys for many a night
And humans after winning the next day’s fight
Little did any know
That they did kowtow
To their previous brainwashing
This got them wilding
…without their whips

So some sat, spat and chatted
Others lived, loved and leached
As few learned, worked, and flourished
…to live lives they cherished
Many hardworking hands went to tend
…to the lazy to help themselves fend
The lazy turned on them citing they, themselves defend
And what a way they did
After citing human flaws
…that their own fingers helped in claws

They insulted and slapped
They cheated and looted
They abused and killed
With no better skills
They tortured and sacked
Their thoughts a-wilding
But after it all, no jobs were seen
They actually did cause many a begging scene

Republics that work, lifted their heads
The shocks it sent
…forced hearts to be burnt
They still led their cause
As no words walked
…through the mouths of their heads
Talk less enforcing sanity in the form of works

As the lurking masters
Looked for ways to their land break
And later dusters
To brand the theft as fake
They turned on the people
Who could help them burn the stakes
From those thieves who their lands evade

So we sit so far
Watching their ignorance unfold
And think in pity as their half is being sold
We wish with hearts that their fate will hold
A mighty epiphany
…to see their folly and shift
To the right side
To save their land
But alas!

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
