THE FALLEN SLIPPER

When you were new
You were fresh like dew
And those who needed you were not few
But you chose to this master, like a cat, nestle and mew

II
You were used like a toilet brush
While being flattered like a wanted crush
You were used like a toilet roll
So you stuck throughout the thorny hard and long stroll
Hoping to see starry stages
And making historic pages
Now you live in bitter built rages

III
Oh you poor slipper!
See how unfairness makes you quiver!
Oh you hole-filled slipper!
See how over-use makes you shiver!
Oh you shattered slipper
Now you have fallen in the middle of the road
Being driven-over by all you used to berrate
Guess who wants you off its field? The road!
While you think your regrets late
Your choices now carry voices
Which your failure sings and rejoices

IV.
Oh you poor slipper
You could have chosen the needy who begged your favour!
And you’d have been together to your very end
As a worshipped foot regalia in your new
And a blend in need in your old
But the shiny foot made your fold
Now you’re old and cold
…and to rejection sold
Who will you now hold?
You’ve lost your bold
…and your gold
Oh you poor, poor, poor slipper!

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)

WOW! That was poignant and straightforward. Reminds me to always treat people with respect, whoever they are. This is a constant reminder of not “stepping on any toes” whilst you climb to the top, cause you’ll eventually see them again. Your poem is very apropos for those who have that “high and mighty” attitude.

Like the Bible warns; “…Let him who thinks he is standing BEWARE that he does not fall”.
