It seems like only yesterday
When my legs stood on heels to parade me around
Now I look like a thing to decay
An empty tin which weakness has found
II
In my mind, I’ve gone all round
As my legs use their heels to have their say
But the reality still stands that mortality now has me bound
For a future promising decay
III
Who are humans that we make many a prideful sound?
What are humans that our egos crown our say?
Where are humans that we do eachother bind?
Who are humans that we act like we own the day?
IV
This temporary state has tutored my fate
If I see tomorrow, I’ll hold my slate
And write my lessons to avoid the bait
Of living like a can-beat-fate
So as to erase regrets before I’m late
