HAJIA

Hajia, when a Muslim man tells you he’d marry multiple wives
Believe him
Live not in the hope of a bluff to feel the tips of jealous knives
When his promises rain to your perfect love dim

Hajia, he told you no lie
He spoke from the prideful praise of his father
Having lived through the quiet storms of his mother
So he understands not the source of your cry

Hajia, you see, there are many twists in our culture
Which add to some assertions of your Holy Qur’an to form their mind’s structure
And so they live for the superior attention
And cultivate being the centre of that attention

Hajia, it is sad to see your tears
I know you built a home with him
I know your thoughts of betrayal and your fears
I know the effort you put into pampering him

But a mind made up is a mind made up
And a heart made up is a heart made up
So your fears were bound to catch up
As thoughts of his other escapades run through your mind till you wake up

Hajia, I can’t say I don’t feel your anger
Your love has just been shared with a stranger
Still, it was a cloud in hanging
As it falls, try to bath clean your true self in the raining

Hajia, now live for you
Travel to places which resonate with you
Laugh for you
Live the best life which brightens you

For you want not a divorce
And your family can no law against him enforce
You know a lot whose lives have modeled yours
And you know how they carry their cross

That’s why your tears only hurt your eyes
He will not flinch or bother to sigh
That’s why your fury will only fill him with anger
Forcing him to see you as a stranger

Hajia, I saw this danger but you were in love
Great beings turn flies, slapped to death when they interfere in love
So I let you be
Hoping you pay no hefty emotional fee

But we are here and you are dear
Oh we are now standing in your fear
Embrace it
Battle you to smoother it

Hajia, think not of his orgasms and moans
Hajia, think only of your heartaches and groans
Hajia, think not of his sweetness and woos
Hajia, just work on your shame and boos

For your life belongs to only you
Your coffin will be for only you
Your happiness belongs to only you
And your sadness is only for only you

Think of hobbies that work in his absence
Think of the memories that work in his presence
That is the only way
Your tattered love sheets will get a lay

Hajia, fairness is a man’s to define
And many a woman’s mostly to confine
So think through ways to your situation refine
And you’ll be fine

At least you have a motor
Let its cries act as your placation motor
At least you have your work
Let this situation force you not to your responsibilities shirk

Hajia, look for you to love
When the sun shines bright and your rival births, look to Allah above
Hajia, nothing will change your embittered state
For life has written and stamped your fate, so fall not into a depression bait

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
