VULNERABILITIES

Just as fire fears rain
Every soul has that one thing they dread
Just as the earth threatens but still sustains rain
Every spirit has a window of fear
…which when properly navigated
Can lead to stages of cheers
So be as vulnerable as you want
But give up no treasure in its seizure

For you can feel the burns of intimidation
But I’ll still be your balm
You may have nightmares of an unworthy soul
But I’ll still be your equal to make you whole
You may face jeers from the sick
But I’ll always be the cheer you desire

Because I’ve stood where you now stand
…and failed in practice but won in lessons
Because I’ve been where you now are
And panicked to lose but learnt to be better
Because I walked through these same fires
…got burnt but feel the beauty of my scares
Even so
Standing here is not without its weaknesses

I also look at you and feel unworthy
Seeing that face with its years pace
I still look at you and sometimes feel small
That a perfect king sees me as queen
I still look at you and hear whispers
Of my luck which struck a god
I still look at you and feel like a hell
Swimming in the bliss of a heaven
But my gratefulness and determination outweigh them all

So be vulnerable but keep me close
For through your torture, you need me as a dose
Oh be at your weakest but don’t let me go
For at your lowest I will stand as strength
You can be a storm but kill not our bond
For after the chaos you’ll need my warmth
Two bodies sharing a heart grow well
When one stands to lift the other up after a fall
All your eyes need is me
All mine need is you
To brave through all weathers
Including that of scary vulnerabilities
