THE POWER OF MY NAME

It is true that a good name takes you places
Yes, you’ve helped me to beautiful and godly places
…Amoafowaa
The unbeatable queen whose appellation; Jemremedua
…is sword creating paths of fearlessness and bravery
…charging and cutting through the chains of emotional slavery
Due to the fact that you embody queens
…who’ve lived through their teens
…through to their aging
And have embodied a sage tagging

II
As Amoafowaa works in her daunting task
Goddess of Days, you let me in my day name bask
Abena, Kosia mframa a ogyama ntumi nhyi
Anigyie sunsum a abrɔ ntumi nhwi
You show your members as friends to the friendless
With souls none can hate regardless
…of attitude, stature, class, age
… and stage
Since I fell within your group by walking through your door
…on a Tuesday onto this earth floor
You’ve lighted me up to shine in a sky made for me
So I have my good self turned to great for all eyes to see

III
They say a third born
…holds the thriving horn
I fell in the line of the third
And now act as the thriving bird
Mansa, Atwima the brightest moon
…forebears turn to follow only to swoon
One who can turn on the aggressive
…by being persuasive
Lover of the bold who is never cold
And does what fits before told
You’re also a bestower of my fate
Because I inherited you by coming through your state
You adorn me with your brightness
And enhance my inherited wokeness

IV
Tawiah, Adwera Okokodurufo a wodi nta akyi
Edin a homhom bɔne kyiri na edi homhom pa akyi
You light me up and strap me high
Shouting on haters with your bold “fie”!
The power of twins in colours of many brave attitudes
I sure am one who can go so high to fearsome altitudes

V
Oh Sefa!
Ɛsrɛmu Sei Gyata!
You who scatter the horrors of the Savanah Grassland
To protect your people
I see your work in many a me
And feel so grateful you hold my stand
Protecting for all to see
Am I not glad you’re part of my identity and name?
Fame never changes nor does it us tame

VI
Cecilia!
Foreign and alien yet apt in my nostalgia!
Lover of music who has blessed me with rhythm and sass
Even your attached blindness I associate with the enemy in grass
…you giving blindness to those who chase
…and are without their own base
For a borrowed name will be what their African counterparts dictate
This is without debate
I am so blessed to model you all in this lifetime
As you work fine and ride into awesomeness
…this Bibiniba with a soul of a flawless life-nurse

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
