THIS IS THE GHANA I LOVE

The Ghana I love is this Ghana
…which is like the still waters
Holding peace like an armour
Even when hearts flip to compete for positions high

II
This is the Ghana I love
This Ghana
Like a hen feeding its chicks
…learning to choose the best from the rest
Sending warnings to aspirants
…about their knowledge growing
…from the gutters they undermine

III
This is the Ghana I love
Where competitors tease eachother like friends
Teaching fighting followers
…to think more than twice before subsequent actions
Forget the frictions
…They’re no addictions

IV
This is the Ghana I love
Telling on the deterioration of developed nations
…as the calm and near success
…fly high our flag
Standing us tall
…as one of the giants of democracy

V
This is the Ghana I love
Better following good
…and being toppled by best
As we station our nation in a trusted organization
…where onlookers watch in reverence
Hoping to be in red, gold, green apparels
…with a black star as their badges

VI
This is the Ghana I love
Those unseated sulking in peace
…after conceding
Even the contesting calms with time
This aura of peace!
This feeling of dignity!
This love for healthy competitions!
Even the heavens spoke with showers after our choosing
…clapping for the composure
…which marks us out as peacemakers
…charting paths for the future
…to learn from our present

VIII
This is the Ghana I love
Peace on love cleansing hurts and pains
We live like one in a different whole
…and we show our wholesomeness
…letting the world know
…we’re part of the giants of democracy

Please Note: December is a difficult time for me for personal reasons. Due to this, I’ll take a short break to meditate and be back before Christmas. Thank you for following, reading, liking, commenting, commending, correcting and helping me keep this safe space. Sending you lots of love. 💕💞💕

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)

I love your poem about Ghana. It reflects what I’ve heard from friends who lived there some time ago. We here in the USA could take a lesson or two right now about how to accept the voice of the people. I pray your break will give you time to rest, meditate, and do for yourself whatever you need to do. Blessings of Christmas to you! 🙂
