YOU DON’T WANT TO HAVE A TASTE OF WAR

As you fuel the ship of peace with war
Aiming to soil the skin of our nation with a-difficult-to-heal sore
Remember your satisfaction lies in the fact
…that your freedom is intact

II
As you fuel ill sentiments with bad emotions
Hoping to thwart truth into sour commotions
If war should break
And chaos turns a canoeless lake
Where will you take your sick
When every living and unliving turns into a trick?

IIb
If war should break
And sentiments, innocent souls bake
Where will you find your food
When many a good turn crude in your hood?
From whence will you quench your thirst
When many a river quiver from the shivers of guns?
Where will you run
…when hunger rides on thirst
…and fears fly your hearts on bans?

III
You might love the amputations
…and hideous worldwide death computations!
You might yearn for blood overflow
…just to see a political overthrow!
You might want to see burnt houses
…and abandoned busses!
Yes, you might want to see schools closed
…and religious grouping enclosed
…as voices hide in whispers
…eyes climb stairs to check for safety
…ears run wild to listen for whimpers
…noses sniff hard to check for scents whose cost on lives will be hefty
But do know reality is not as serene as imaginations bought by thoughts
And war is no movie to cherish in their boughts

IV
If you want a taste of war
Burn your all with your law
Live in a foodless street
Run and hide from all in defeat!
Live a nothing
With no knowledge of where next bullet will come from
And see the unrhyming lines of life
You’ve got it good now
Living dirt poor
…with no flying guns!
You have it better now
Living as pests on others
…with no burning houses!
You’ve it bright now
Sleeping in peace and not in pieces
So rethink your decisions
As those for whom you fight in their derelictions
See nothing in you but tools
…needed to climb their goals
Should war break
They can fly their families like birds
…to other places
Do you even own a passport
…for the Ghana whose aggrieved you fight for?

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
