A WAR FOR BIRDS

Dear dove
Please fly to the heavens
Seek audience with God
And ask why his name flourishes not
…our game
I know you’re a religious symbol
And a messenger trusted by Jesus

II
Dear Vultures
Evade the space of death
And break down its mythical door
To get to our ancestors
Asking what their blood stood for
If you can
Break the chains of their ghosts
And help wear them bodies
So they can rewind time to undo their deaths
To structure their future
…before we come into it

III
Dear Cocks
Your wake up calls reach not the heavens
They have turned into scary bells
Waking monsters to weed good plants
They’ve woken hatred to gag nightingales
And have woken rabid dogs to trap and kill ducks
They’ve called dragons to burn eagles
And sure have turned ravens into crude homeless dwellers
…who fit not anywhere
If you think I lie
Ask owls and bats
…demonized because their eyes wander the dark
So fly higher to wake God

IV
This worldly war is only for wings
Not for legs
So wake your kingdom to fill the air
In order to penetrate the heavens
To open the angels to come trap bad spirits
…walking like saints on our streets
To stop our time from running into utter defeat

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
