Once upon a time
Two Bush fowls feasted on the farm of a wolf
They did so for years
Vanishing during ploughing and planting
And resurfacing during fruition
The wolf laid many traps
But none caught either
For they were so smart
II
These bush fowls deprived wolf
Of many harvests of happiness
And caused her many nights of tears
…with dreamless sleeps
Need I mention the hunger?
III
The bush fowls knew eachother
But never thought they shared the same farm
Until they met in their harvest
A look at eachother
And a horrid clash causes such sound
That woke all the animals in the kingdom
IV
They fought and fought
Their anger locked their ear doors
Their need to fight eachother till death
Made their wings busy with blows
So much so
They didn’t pay a thought to the crowd of animals
Circled around them
As some cheered
Others booed
Still some others rushed to call wolf
Whose hunger had forced her to other parts to hunt
V
Wolf raced like air
Reached her farm only to see the two bush fowls
Still busy breaking their wings
And pecking off their feathers
She caught both on the spot
And decapitated them in anger
All those watching had nothing to do
Only few chastised her for not blaming her fragrant farm
Some thought it fair
That the two Bush fowls ended up as wolf’s dish
For it was her hardwork that fed them fat
Still, there were those in whose eyes
Fear danced
For they knew the secrets darkness helped them keep
And knew it was only a matter of time
They also ended up as the dead bush fowls
