YOU SEE NOW?

Footmats have turned caretakers
…holding canes to whip sanes into insanes
…for the many years they were stepped on
Forcing shouts out of self important stouts
Need has flipped it
…servants turned leaders
…leaders turned servants
It sure is very true
…that money is no honey when chaos strikes

II
Mr. Asikumah’s doctorate now decorates him not
As he shovels the garbage which floods his home
Eyes watching from outside his mansion
…force thoughts of shame –
…same as the lame he thought Nuru was
It now dawns
…the importance of his garbage collector!

III
Asibi’s husband now sits in power
As the caretaker of the public toilet –
…a job which has bought disrespect for his family
…from many in his area for years
Now nature teaches every tongue which lashed out
…eyes which rolled
…noses whose hands blocked them to show him disdain
That there is power in the stinking
Why didn’t anyone think him ‘momoni’
…which turns palatable after cooking?
Did they need the crisis to show him boss
…of their private lives?

IV
Now market women hold keys of determining prices
Like goddesses of the land
There’s nothing like plea calls
There’s nothing like side looks
There’s nothing like desperation
They wear their intimidating characters and watch you struggle
…forcing you to see the money which made you pompous
…is nothing they can’t make
…when disaster strikes
I hope this crisis takes off the masks of self deceit
…and helps recognize the importance of all ‘odd’ jobs

V
Let appreciation replace your conceitedness:
From stockers of shelves to cleaners
Wayside hawkers to nannies
Right to those thought average
…teachers, tellers
Deserve their stardom even through the dubious

VI
When thunders in stomachs strike
…bodies shake in fear
Knowing the implications of its continuation
…feelings the pangs of its complications
Fatality is the worse ending
I hope wisdom makes clear
…the very lessons of the present

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
