THIS CONTINENT OF LOVE

AFRICA

Hospitality

Brutality

Extreme poverty

Queer animosity

On this continent  of love

Rare corruption

Thoughts on a mission

To accomplish their visions

Of filling their pockets with grave decisions

On this continent of love

Like ants around wood

Looking for food

If we work as they stood

Our forefathers will be in the blessing mood

To bless this African continent of ours

So wake

And let me wake

Lets seek to bake

Evil for our children’s sake

Just to keep this continent of love

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)

Africa and her countries are indeed beautiful. Her people demonstrate strength, perseverance, and ferocity. Many of the modern problems plaguing the continent have been introduced from outsiders raping the land and the people throughout history. I often wonder what this wonderful pool of richly diverse people would be today if they had been left alone. The obstacles facing the people of Africa are overwhelming and pray in earnest for strength and wisdom for folks such as yourself who are fighting against seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Never give up dear Cecelia because one person can make a difference as the smallest light in the vast darkness can be seen by all. Never let anyone snuff out that light you carry. May our Creator bless your work.

True about interferences dear Tina, but the worst is our political leaders, they embezzle monies meant for development, become stooges just to get loans, make us look like beggars by spending monies for aid but the illiterates outweighing the literates vote them to power when they give a few goodies close to elections. The problem is with Africans, those who are paid by governments but do no work, those who do not work well but are paid all the same, those who spend and cheat on others’ sweats, Tina, I know what I am saying, if we could wake to this light of working to make our continent better and shed our mediocre ideas of war, deceits, embezzlement and fast money hunting, Africa will be one of the best countries ever.

Oh, I completely agree with you Cecelia. In the present, all peoples everywhere are responsible for their own countries and cannot rely on the abuses of historical interferences to explain away the turmoil in which they are embroiled. Politicians, everywhere are alike and corrupt. They use the uneducated masses to get them into power by providing “gifts” and empty promises then do nothing but fatten their own pockets. It is a horrible problem where we allow a small group of “leaders” to ruin our countries and hurt our people again and again. Each individual needs to take responsibility to better their country. However, we need to get the people to want to better themselves, their families, their communities, their countries and then the world. The biggest challenge is getting anyone to take that first step and work hard to achieve it in a world where people want everything now without working for it. That has become a chronic problem in the U.S. The youth believe they are entitled to everything they want without having a desire to work to achieve it. The problems are so multifaceted and entrenched within society and our corrupted politicians take full advantage of it.
