In these times
You’ve been the river
…and I, the blessed plant
We’ve proclaimed our can
…been each other’s fan
…had our courageous run
And have completed the first lap

We’ve had fun
Be it Bush Canteen fufu or tuo zaafi
We’ve had our backs
As helping hands and happy carers
We’ve been for each other
…fresh air, watchdogs
Even when a jealous gatekeeper kept up with trials
Our laughter made it all better
Knowing such people abound in hound on progress ground

So in these times
I can only call for the heavens to bless your being
Pray for the universe, your good to be seen
Wish for our ancestors, your dreams to grow green
For you’re fire and rain and sane and deserve a higher
May all that work for good be for you
For being all that you’ve been
…in these times
…these times when I needed you the most
