LEARNED ON REGRET DUTY

This is a lesson learned
To not be eager to help one so in need
For those are people who have earned
…many mouths acting far helpers of your dying feed

II
This is a great lesson learned
That you’ll become the broken bead
Even if your back burned
…to be the soil for a needy’s needed seed

III
Because minds choose to forget
…all you did and rain on you torrents of regret
Because your memories are of you going the extra mile
And theirs are of they tasting some unknown bile

IV
I have learned
I have learned to let it all burn
When none is ready to help
For the future holds a lot of poor payments
If your present offers a help
…which will be forgotten when you reach it
All you’ll be crowned with are a crown of accusations
…and a certificate of hatred

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)

There is a difference between 1) giving temporary help to those who want to learn how to help and take care of themselves, and 2) relieving those who only wish to get on and always rely on others to escape their immediate problems without learning how to solve the roots of those problems. In the second case nothing is learned and the recipient of help may well turn against the giver of help. Perhaps this is where the expression «God helps those who help themselves» comes from?!! Sometimes it is best to simply say: «I have confidence that you will work this out.»
