PEOPLE IN FINANCIAL PANDEMIC

We wince while wailing
And wake to the pain of more pain
We sit in a pit of snakes which bite us
With promises of remoulding us
Even as we work like bulls
And are fed like ants
We are who we are
People in financial pandemic

II
How can our wages walk behind our years
As our toils rush past our fears in decades of flights?
How can our bills sit atop tall trees
As our pockets drown in bottomless pits?
How can our needs bleed us bonkers
As our wants are never birthed even in seconds of leisure from our perpetual nightmares
…as each day adds on to our woes?
How can our own work us dry
Even as our eyes are droughted in our cries?
We are who we are
People in financial pandemic

III
Yet there are defenders making the innocent poor offenders
There are defenders hoarding our souls
In bowls of entertainment
There are defenders who offend us by swimming in our sweats
While destroying our water bodies
Aren’t we who we are?
People in financial pandemic?

IV
Excuses quarter our thoughts
“Oh the whole world wails”
But our poverty vehicles kill most of our bright
As our drivers enjoy and still drink from the blood
We live –
We so live in financial pandemic
The pandemic which affects everything
Everything which makes us human
But the light of a vaccine is not in sight
Even as we wallow deep
…deep deep within
We are now dead beings on legs
…with heated hearts heavy with hurts

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
