THE FALL OF KABUL

Will Kabul rise from this fall?
Who will make that rising call?

II
From Herat to Kandahar
Mashar e- Sharif to Jalalabad
Hands hold hearts as chests run wild
In a chaos only horrible heads thrive on
So who will call the rise from the fall?

III
Torn between a worn out power
…and a vicious power
Drones carry bullets to avenge deaths
…by suicide bombers
Children look for their parents
…whose bodies are scattered
…waiting for scared vultures whose shadows will never be seen
…even from dead miles
Many legs and hands are gone
As children fight for the lives
…grown men should have safeguarded
…and not put in jeopardy
Veils host shivering bodies
…whose skills have been stripped by their gender
As streets hunger for the hustle and bustle of activities
…stolen by fear
Who will call the rise from Kabul’s fall?

IV
Many who hailed now cry foul
Folktalers now lie six feet under
Singers are now game to be shot and fed to graves
Workers whose ideals lie with those who have abandoned them
…now hide like mice from vengeful cats
Famine whips many a child
As wombs wail their fading cities
Who will call the rise from Kabul’s fall?

V
Why must humans be sacrificial lambs
Slaughtered for a change so strange?
Why must tears of lost infants be the night songs of Kabul?
Why is sewage water the stance of hearts hoping for an escape?
Who did this number on the innocent
…in these times of civilization?
Who will call the rise in this fall –
…this fall of torture?

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)

Personne n’y arrivera.
