Dear Jerry John Rawlings
You’ve left many a feelings
Branding lucky the number four
To represent freedom and democracy to the core
So many wanted you to live more
Death’s claws have left us sore
II
You were like the liver with its bile
Sweet and nourishing for most worthing our while
Bitter and loathsome for some to serve our dial
You were fire
…corruption’s live wire
Shocking and killing in your just desire
IIb
You were rain
Which washed off most of our bane
Just when it started to poison our reason
And single handedly built us a new season
If Nkrumah was our building contractor,
You were our nation’s refurbishing mason
Your charisma and your character
…smiting the arrogant and brazen
IIc
You flew us from slavery
…with bravery
And brought us to freedom
…through many a proud kingdom
Seventy three can never ever stop your time
As it will tick tock to all futures rhyme
Identified by justice where crime slimes
Inspiring many in horrible times
For you pushed us to our prime
III
We will forever have all your mirrors
Those with hurts watching your horrors
Those with gratitude loving your humours
Those with no knowledge peddling rumours
And those who knew you will forever revere
…you in a manner severe
For you were a palm tree with thorns
…a national bull with protective horns
IV
Coups were your penetrative gates to quench disgust
To thaw the hunger frozen by the unjust
Discipline was your beautiful double edged sword
To create a nation with one accord
We send you off with tears of honour
Knowing you’re not a goner
But a staff of light
…which will always lead us to the right

We will forever cherish the memories
…you lived to brighten the black star
…which leads and will forever contribute to lead our homeland
