WHAT WE TOOK FOR GRANTED

Didn’t we take it for granted?
When we shopped like free flying birds
And spoke without fears of our spittle
…showering others?

II
Didn’t we take it for granted?
When we hugged and kissed
Without Corona dangling fears of infections?

III
Oh didn’t we take it for granted?
When we could just crash parties
And get hearty welcomes
And meet many many people
With handshakes and ready laughter?

IV.
We did take it for granted
When our children played outside and made friends
…unknown to us
For we trusted in their safety
And worried only about financial survival

V
But here we are
In the measured quarantine of Corona
We can’t meet enough
We can’t laugh without worries
We can’t easily read faces
We can barely greet with our elbows
…knocking in awkwardness
So we should live
Grateful for every step, safety and peace
From here on

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
