Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)

Beautiful piece on generosity, an invaluable value being suppressed and suffocated by greed and insensitivity in our contemporary society.

The mention of the various elements of the earth—sun, sky, rain, fire, etc.—which have great but subtle lessons add great value to the poem. Indeed, we have a lot in our environment to learn from.

The direct instruction or urge to the wild, powerful, dangerous, (carnivorous) animals— lion, hyena, crocodiles, etc.—which are symbolic of the rich, the powerful, the privileged, etc. is so apt. It indicates that the privileged, the powerful, etc. have the moral responsibility to help others with their power, wealth, wit and in any other way possible and necessary.

The mention of the different animals in the poem could also symbolise the different cultures, ethnic groups, tribes, social classes, religions, etc., an indication that help should not be limited to cultural, ethnic, tribal, etc. fences. It further accentuates that one has no excuse for not helping someone so far as they have the ability to do so because of cultural, ethnic, religious, tribal, political, etc. differences.

The poem does not just tell us to help others; it also gives us reasons it is morally and intellectually sagacious to extend a helping hand to others: the once-helped could be the parachutes or cushions of help when the tables turn.

‘ELEEMOSYNARY’ is a cleverly-crafted poetic piece that seeks to reinstate or reawaken the drastically drowning moral value of kindness. The themes imbedded in the poem cannot be underestimated. It is not just a beautiful piece but also a consciousness and conscience-awakening piece clothed in the fabrics of puzzles. It is a fascinating delight to read the poem.

Kudos, Mum Cee!

Beautiful poetic piece on generosity, an invaluable value that is being suppressed and suffocated by greed and insensitivity in our contemporary society.

The mention of the various elements of the earth: sun, rain, sky, fire, etc. which have great but subtle lessons of kindness and alms giving adds great value to the poem. Indeed, we have a lot in our environment to learn from.

The direct instruction or urge to the wild, powerful, (carnivorous) animals which are symbolic of the rich, the powerful, the privileged, and the ruling class of society is so apt. This is an indication that the powerful, the privileged, etc. have the moral responsibility to help others with their power, wealth, wit and in any way possible and necessary.

The mention of the different animals could also symbolise the different cultures, ethnic groups, tribes, etc in the large society. This shows there’s no excuse for not helping someone so far as one has the ability to do so because of cultural, ethnic, tribal, etc. differences.

The poem also gives reasons it is morally and intellectually sagacious to help others when one has the ability to do so: those that are helped could ultimately be the parachutes or cushions of help when the tables turn. This is found in the last stanza of the poem.

‘ELEEMOSYNARY’ a beautiful poem that seeks to reinstate or reawaken the drastically drowning moral act of kindness. The themes in the piece cannot be underestimated. It is not just a beautiful piece but also a conscious-awakening piece clothed in fabrics of puzzles. It is a fascinating delight to read the piece.

“A word to the greedy is enough”
“A word to the power drunk is enough”
They say, ‘when you get pregnant with air, you will give birth to the wind and you shall hold nothing in your arms”
Thank you MumCee!
Beautifully crafted!
