THREATS AND FRETS

Once,
In a jungle that was fair
…and frowned on carnivores
A dog felt insulted after fighting mouse

He kept barking and threatening to deal with mouse
To the hearing of all
Cat, who felt tired of chewing plants
…also heard and schemed a perfect plan

Cat caught and ate mouse
One moonless and starless night
…managed to leave few of its bones
…and planted them beside the sleeping dog

It was a weird night
Cock overslept
So decided to go from place to place
Waking the animals closest
As cock was about to crow into dog’s ear
It saw the bones of mouse
So crowed his loudest ever

All the animals woke and rushed to dog’s sleeping place
…including cat
They detained dog after realizing mouse was nowhere to be found

The small animals petitioned King Lion
To banish Dog
As he posed a threat to their existence
That was how Dog was banished to serve and guard man
Cat, living in the jungle for long
Until his cup fulled
And banished himself in chase of the mice family
…who sought refuge and safety from their anonymous killers, in human land
