GOD’S DEFIANT BEST

God is sitting beneath the earth
Watching his religious teachers
…embark on senseless demonstrations
Stomping feet
Clapping hands
Shooting words in gun onomatopoeias
Demanding for materials through fair or foul means
Hoping to be shielded by the holy ghost
As they get away with crimes

God sees all you school prefects of churches
…under the skirts of sisters
…in the trousers of brothers
…under sheets of brethrens
And he is witness to the hallelujahs of abominable pleasures
I wonder if he considers it dramatic
…melodramatic
…comic
…tragecomedic
…or just plain tragedy

Yet you sit and judge me
Even as I live as me
With no religious tag
Owning my sins and rocking my needs
You sit like eyes which have bribed air
Blinking not
Watching not your steps but mine
Delving into microscopes to seek the animal I am
…in my home
…on the streets
…and in my sleep
Aren’t you a funny bunch?

In a play where passion drives action
…I am none you can match in any match
In a dormitory where spirits drive hard our causes
…I am no competition for your repetitive jealousy
In a world where God selects his best
…from a wondrous nest
I am no size for your measurement
Even He knows
…I sometimes blind him in his own realm
Even He knows
…his binds always fall behind my kicks
Even He knows
…I strike harder than he does
Don’t try a battle where demons have failed
Angels have bowed
…as God’s hands have been forced to clap as an audience
Lest you trip into the mouth of a powerless monster
…made by your own mind
For I am a living gospel of his defiant best
A great game his hunters fear
And an enigma that none can untangle
…even in a wisdom’s peak
