We were here
…in peace
Before some chiefs schemed to lose power
…by gaining it in dubious excesses
We were here
Before politics toppled chieftains like a young warrior beating the old to a pulp
The peace had been breached for despair to leech us dry to painfully teach
Wars of emotions and physicals apexed and ended
I bet our grandparents thought you unifiers
Why will you use knives of power drunkenness
…to butcher our peace and stir our vulnerable
Spiraling from bad to worse with your hate?

Your manipulation is sure to cause agitation
…and division
You sure need a revision
If you want no bars and wars
…between us
Your political decisions need missions and visions
…of one nation
And not stations of incensed “tribes”
…wanting to wipe our scribes
…for chaos to roar!

Sensational words are like fire on dry hay in hearts
They hurt to burn a yearn for revenge
…which births a rage to stage a cage of ignorant commotions
Destroying nations
While some cry United States of Africa,
Funny how it can’t be Ubutu Africa to at least hide our parodying,
You incite for some lights to dim and recite an aggressive domination to break
…love for disdain
What will you gain?

You need to wash our politics clean
So we can live in this peace we have
You need to keep our ethnicity out of your selfish ambitions
You know we’re brothers by nation
Sisters by nation
Couples by races
And yoked by extensions
An Akan can be an Ewe and a Ga
A Dagbandoo can be a Fante and an Ashanti
So where lies your reason for divisions?
Live right and leave be our rights
We can live without your incitement
…but can’t live without the peace
We are one Ghana
Different tongues in one beautiful dynamic bowl
We are one Ghana
Different thoughts and all
We’re one Ghana
So stop talking ethnics
For burying the talks kills the hate to bloom a forgetting and a love as generations peel
Many grow conscious with your sensational consciousness
A sorry worry promising a gory story
…which benefits none
