WHEN I FINALLY LEAVE

When I finally leave
Let it be known that I was the leaf which struggled to stay
…on the right branches of the tree of life
And heeded no intimidating winds

II
When I finally leave
Let it be known that I lived like a sheep
…meek, mild, affable, humble
But fought like a lioness
…fierce, strong, observant, swift

III
When I finally leave
Let it be known that I loved harvesting hearts
…rather than hurts
And did my best to touch the vulnerable
…healing them into strength

IV
When I finally leave
Let it be known that I did all I could
…to stay behind the camera
Lying low and staying in the dark
To help me see the filth and good in the light
In order to strengthen my ink
To touch and cleanse the world I could reach

V
When I finally leave
Let it be known that I showed my face
…only where I was called
Because small minds felt insulted at the touch of my thoughts
…and threw tantrums at my uncommon sense

Vb
When I finally leave
Let it be known that I spoke my mind only when I felt like it
…because childlike heads felt cheated
…at my depts
…and cried and cursed at the scare of my light
Yet my vessel was nothing to fear
Still my spirit haunted the biggest and strongest
And my soul murdered the powerfully twisted

VI
When I finally leave
Tears must be exchanged with thankfulness
Fears must be exchanged with congratulations
For I lived devoid of regrets
Because I wore my best at every battle front
…and won most
Even before decades of four caught my earthly can

VII
When I leave
When I finally leave
Breathe deeply
…in and out for me
For death can only give me life
…as much as life murdered to resurrect me
…hours into days into months into years
For I will live
I surely will live well to celebrate the morning of my mourning till its night
…when I finally leave

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)

I had to pour out my inspiration for writing with a friend yesterday and suddenly, I got migraines. Struggling through the pain, I just decided to do nothing but lie down. Then it hit me that even migraines can kill me while I hide away from Corona. But a voice told me it is fine even if I die now because I’ve lived, and lived well. Silly me. But when I decided to put something down for today at midnight, that’s what inspired this piece by running through my mind.

Migraines suck☹️! But it’s great you found inspiration through them. Its crazy right? sometimes it takes days to even write a page, but eventually something sparks and you just write something amazing in no time. Hope my voice speaks to me today!😊

I’m not in the same space as you but I need to tell you to enjoy your Writer’s block. I have never had any since I started writing seriously. Makes me feel weird but I hope you find inspiration to write as much as you want.
