I WORRY FOR HER

He told me
He told me she pushed him down a cliff
He did tell me
He did tell me she squashed all his hopes
…and rendered him homeless in his own home
Throwing out his soul
…and shattering his spirit
Always leaving him an empty barrel
…deserted by all he held dear
So he is leaving her
Although I know her not
I worry for her

II
I worry for the scars which this heartbreak will dig into
I’m sorry for the questions that this abandonment will heap on her
The story of his leaving and its dent on her womanhood –
…I know will turn a societal whip
What of the friends who’ll unveil their hatred
…at this breaking news?
I so worry for her

III
I feel like a betrayer
…because he is my friend
I feel like I’ve wronged her
…even before their vows break
Because I’ve sought not and fought not
I’ve caught not haters and I’ve put no taunter
…in their rightful places of enlightenment
So they think not of the halves with flat chests
…who contribute to the breakage of the whole
They think not of the stigma they give
…and the piercings they make on hearts
…which need to do more for the unfortunate youngs
My heart kneels in my chest
I so worry for her

IV
I worry for her
For the many mountains of ridicules she’ll climb
I so worry for her, for the many rivers of tears she’ll swim
Oh I worry for her, for the many desserts of gossips she’ll pass through
And for the many slaps of blames she’ll receive
I just worry for her
…yes I worry for her
Because hers is a place I can definitely fit
And my sorrow has no boundary
…even in my current borrowing of her state for my mental role play

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
