A STROLL IN AFRICA

In my idleness and tiredness

Of hearing the screams of pain,

I decided to take a stroll in Africa

And what did I see?

I saw indifference chewing an unmeasured stick

Sitting on our wall, watching and shaking its head

I reached out but it had sold its ears to disappointment

And had thrown its mind to the future puppies who may never find it

I walked on and reached our grand palace

There, sitting on our throne was corruption with a caption

“I own this, the dull fools have endorsed me”

I looked and yes, the mandate was authentic

I reached the town and instantly wore a frown

There, many mouths pounded themselves in desperation

Tongues wagged in disappointment

But all the words stayed in throats, never heard around the palace

I looked and looked to find the cause of the filth

Which filled my eyes, funny, I saw traces in everyone

From the janitor to the boss

Form the jobless to the jobful, traces of dirt stay in their eyes

I’ve realised headway is impossible

What is possible is getting a new path

So that corruption, illnesses and struggles

Can be abandoned at the current settlement.

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
