Say my name with a careful thought
Don’t say it like I’m some disgusting thing
For I have seen many who have because of me fought
And many others who have for me sing
I know you cannot stand my stench
I stink, I know
Ask yourself, did I create me?
And say my name with a careful thought:
Da-wa-da-wa
You might hate to look at me now
Like things the eyes must dodge, I lie
But I know after suffering through the rain,
Through the sun,
And through hot fire
I’ll become as desirable as the gentle sunlight in winter
So say my name with a careful thought:
Da-wa-da-wa.
You might not want me now
But you’ll compete for me after I’m cooked
So let me see no disdain in those eyes
And get no sarcasm in your voice
Use your thought and get some foresight
Even with your last pesewa, have me bought
And say my name with a careful thought
Da-wa-da-wa.
