Lights frequently develop long female legs in Africa
Leaving homes wearing sneakers
Only to come back in high heels
Making noise ka, ka, ka, ka, ka.
These lights date visibility and darkness
Testing tempers and spending extravagantly with each dark dating
And many visibility flirtings
But mandated cables watch, sometimes pleading with offenders
Sometimes shamefully in sadness
Who can bring them to book?
Some parents wait in the pain of heat
Children wait in hunger and thirst
Irresponsible mothers are still mothers
But hurting children still has its limit
Grandmothers, hold them down and speak to their hearts and minds
If it still doesn’t work,
Grandpa Cable Makers, take your whips.
