1.
AS the rains punish
And many things and lives perish
As several losses and things we cherish
Speed in floods to cause us anguish
Let’s remind ourselves of the rubbish
That we dispose of in drains
And know this is one of its ‘gains’
2.
Let’s think of the water ways we won with deadly grudges
…and punches
…and lashes
…and crashes
And built on them with all their blemishes
And know, this is one of its ‘gains’
3.
We all need not climb the wealth mark
We all need to right our wrongs in the dark
We all need to police each other even with a bark
For this Ghana is a very small park
Hosting us in a lifetime till we, this life, disembark
Even our feathers fall right back here when we fall
…to death’s call
Know all our insanities have many a devastating ‘gain’
So let’s correct our wrongs in the dark
4.
For Ghana is us
And we are Ghana
For Ghana can kill us
And we can kill Ghana
For Ghana is a mother
And she can be a murderer
We give what we receive
So let’s not ourselves deceive

PS: This, to some may sound insensitive, but when the heated silver cools, there is no burns of rememberance. It is difficult, but someone must point to it as it happens and we all must learn from this. Our attitudes form a bigger part of this mess. Through it all, I wish for help for all those who have incurred losses. May God help us all.
