THE EXCI-DANGEROUS RETURN (For Mr. Edusei Derkyi and Mariska)

It sounded relieving
Traveling back from Ati without stressing
It sounded great, talking and bonding
…thinking with like and higher-minded people
And surely it started well

Mr. Derkyi drove like a careful eagle
Seeing and smelling through the driving struggle
He acted the gentleman who saw to the needs of us women
He wouldn’t engage when he and Aunt Mariska were nearly caught
…in a feministic argument
He wore his apology like a prized ornament
Making me giggle at his wriggle from the heat
He was the ever sensitive elder brother

We were able to shop thanks to him-
Plantains and tomatoes
We were able to laugh thanks to him
At him and with him
Till we reached the curvy and dangerous Manfe stretch
The car spoke through its scent
It was thirsty and tired
Mr. Derkyi caught it fast
…and stopped to tend to it before it turned on us
And so we waited, got Good Samaritans to gift us water
Oh we waited, for an hour and its over-half
But when we took off, the vehicle rebelled soon after
Asking us how we dared to move
…when its fourchettes were completely gone?
So we parked, got a great place to park it
…and hopped on a commercial vehicle
…heading to Madina
Me with my huge plantains
And all of us with our disappointments

I did enjoy the trip despite the glitches
But saw all the twitches
…of guilt of Mr. Derkyi’s face
Aunt Mariska and I wondered why
Because he offered to drive us home
…free of charge
In comfort and in respect and did half of that
He helped and led till we all got to safety
So I am thankful as much as grateful
For that interesting trip back from Ati

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
