THIS SADNESS – For Nana Gyan-Apenteng

This sadness
This sadness of seeing a different you
…smeared and draped in gold
…down to lean
Has drained some life out of me

This sadness
This sadness of seeing you alone
On your last bed
As a show for all who wish to
While adowa dancers and drummers display
Has left a gap deep down in my soul

For you were and are still that oak tree
With life filled with laughter and happiness
You were the life of every party
You were the Nana all were drawn to
A king by all standards
So I marvel at how you got to this you
This you who is so unknown even to me

Nante yie Nana! Nana Gyan-Apenteng eeei damirifa due
Due due ne amanehunu!

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)

Such a moving and heartfelt poem. I feel the depth of your love and sorrow. May God bring comfort and peace to your heart as you remember the joy, laughter, and life they brought into the world. ✝️
