IT FEELS LIKE YESTERDAY (For Mr. Seidu)

I remember
I remember our conversation like it was yesterday
When you told me about the medicinal capabilities of cassava leaves
And the strength of your wife
…even in seed-keeping

II
I remember telling you to do a check up once in a while
And you laughing it off, encouraging me to turn to our local herbs rather
All the while fixing my stolen tap-head
I remember the laughter we shared
…while sitting on the staircase at the back of my house
It just feels like yesterday

III
It hit me hard
The news and your views in my head
It did hit me hard
Your smiles and your gentility in all spheres
It oh so hit me hard
Seeing you, greeting you, and losing you in one day
It sure hits hard when you’re a working man one day
…and a buried flesh the other

IV
How did this happen?
I see a picture of your wife in my mind’s eye
…thinking through sleep
…hurting through breath
I have made a picture of your children in my thoughts
…confused and scared
…refusing to accept
I see a picture of your family in my mind
…shocked, angry
…with plans none knows
I do feel lost
I feel I lost a soul and a good conversationist

V
Sleep well champ,
My plumbing works will suffer
But I pray your peace does not!
Sleep well Big Man
My hurts might simmer
But I hope your power does not!
Rest well Mr. Seidu
You formed a part of my working family
And your without hurts like a cancer
But consolation rests in a future
…where all will assume your current stature
…and be one with nature
May Ya Allah grant you Jannah

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
