CHICKEN AND EAGLE

I can’t get why he was given the privilege
Whiles hers is considered a sacrilege
I can’t believe how much he was coddled
And how hard she is being heckled
I thought women’s hearts weren’t sticks
For a woman’s heart to quietly take thorny pricks
Are the hearts of men humanely real
And the hearts we wield not a big deal?
I need answers
I so need answers

We were all here when Kwame Bamfo’s mistress
Brought home twin girls and left his wife in distress
Abena Foriwaa cried and tried to divorce him
But all the village elders told her she could not divorce him
Just based on the little mistake he committed
Her high hurts, they discarded and omitted
Another happened
Another happened
Until six children from five women were hers to bring up
But still, the elders told her to shut up

The emboldened Bamfo left for greener pastures
Abena’s sadness forced her into another man’s mattress
The unmentionable ensue
I watched as the society did her pursue
Humans turned into month calculators
And many rumouring eyes turned mouths into corroborators
Kwame Bamfo turned into the “poor dude”
Whose wretched “whoring” wife hurt him
…by mothering another man’s baby
How shady!

So suddenly, the eagle is a man
And suddenly, the chicken is a woman
The eagle can fly and hunt other birds
But the chicken that does it, needs to be caught, killed and added to names of abominable birds
Which part of an adulterous-knife cuts a man
…and repairs a woman?
Which part of a jealous bomb
Sends a man into an emasculating tomb
And flutters happiness in a woman’s womb?
Show me the unfair-comb whose adulterous scratches make a man run mad
And just cause a woman to be sad?

There she is, stripped naked and being shamed
By her fellow women who feel this will have her tamed
As the men nod, shake heads and act supreme
Even as the abuse goes to the extreme
They’ve already slapped her with divorce
And her husband, whose many breaches came with no remorse
Has actually accepted, acting like a broken broom
In a dirty room
This is so shady!
