This resting year is the year you boosted my confidence
…with experience
Sent me love
…from up above
Blessed me with a priceless gift train
…wrapped in hardships and pain
And set me upon a road of self achievement
…with better arrangement

This resting year is when you trained me
…to see the drain bee
Where hope is skewed and
…expectations can be reviewed
The resting year is the year you’ve trimmed my conceit
…and canceled most chasing deceit

It is this resting year which pulled me from the delusion
…of life in its forever confusion and illusion
Now I live a day at a time
…hoping to escape the unfulfilling slime
…of living unhappy and horrible like a crime

It is this resting year
…that you showed me friendships and their many a marked fear
You raised family to show there are some so queer
…and lifted strangers to show them gems so rare
It is this resting year which was able to set my generation in motion
…with difficult commotion

I hope this new year embraces me with hope
I hope this new year helps me to cope
I hope this year has in it an exciting scope
I hope this year rakes in greater friends
And pushes for more enchanting trends
I hope this year makes us, makes you, makes me
What we’ve always dreamed of being
So as to make our graves act like places of rest
And not perpetual places of duress
