As years peel like a gigantic onion
To shift us through realms of butter and iron
We need grateful hearts of praise
Even as we, the departed to Odomankomah raise

Through the phases of the craze
…like determined seeds
We have been able to ourselves amaze
With strength we knew not we had
Through sad and gory stories
…like scattered beads
We have also experienced glories
…picking up our pieces to live on threads of love

We know we have to exercise
…to shed body weights unneeded
We know we have to caution exercise
…to avoid creating voids by yielding to dangers unheeded
We know we have to work harder
…so we can get past trauma by having it unseeded

IV
With new things come new opportunities
…calling for the daring and the determined
So add to the determined entities
…and live through the storms with forms which conform not
…to the dictates of brokenness
Do lift your heads in thanksgiving
For we are all VICTORS of a century
Just by crossing over 2020
