Once upon a time
Air, Rain and Sunlight started a conversation as friends
Air said it was the most important thing to man
As men can’t do without it for a second
They breathe it to live
They need it to light fire
And they need it even in rains
The other two shook their heads in disagreement
II
Rain also said it grows the earth
…and everything in it
So it is the most important thing to earth
For it grows plants
Quenches thirst
And calms heat
The other two disagreed
III
Then Sunlight said it was the most important thing to man
It dries our food
Helps to grow our plants
And helps to give warmth to man
Again the other two disagreed
B
The conversation escalated into an argument
And soon, rain was throwing thunders and flooding
Air was fighting with whirlwinds and tsunamis
And the sun was fighting with its heat at its peak
They fought in the sky
And fought on land
Killing whatever known to men
…and men themselves
So sky reported them to God
C
God called the feuding trio
And listened as they bickered and fought
But in the end He did smile
Making the trio seem foolish
They stopped their fight and looked at God
Who took His time to let tempers calm
Before speaking to them
D
None of you is greater than the other
What one lacks, another compensates for
You are all equally important to earth
That is why without one of you
All others are useless
Take air for instance
Your importance has caused man
…to create oxygen to save some lives
You’re in everything
But you kill in your anger
Don’t you?
You sun
You have inspired man to create fire and light
…to warm bodies and light the dark
But in your anger
…you burn the earth
You rain
How many river bodies are protected?
How many dams are created?
Just look at man’s effort at irrigation
Still you can flood to kill
…and even cause thunder to strike
So although you’ve your faults
You’re all equally important
E
Now you either work together
Or die out
Your significance is tied to your working together
One’s failure is another’s
Another’s success is for you all
For you give life in your composure
And kill in your high exposures of temperaments
So go and work together
And stop killing the nature you oversee
F
Though disappointed not to be individually branded the absolute important
The shameful trio greeted eachother
And despite their personal reservations
Acknowledged the words of the creator as true
And worked together since then
Though their personal rivalries still exist

I agree Amoafowaa Sefa Cecilia. A wonderful story written. We need nature more than she needs us.
