Many untruths walk these streets
In pencil heels
Belling ears to deafness
Modeling beauty which sweats out jealousies from the gullible
Don’t you see?
Can’t you see?
II
They’ll announce the fall of their enemies
When their friends become their frenemies
They’ll show brand clothes in try ons
And parade foods in their mooching
They’ll make up news to magnetize followers
And get angering views from emotional shallowers
Don’t you see?
Can’t you see?
III
And then pictures of couples
…twinning in doubles
With make up hiding tears of the past minutes
Smiles, masking frowns of their lives
Celebratory hypocritical clothes for virtual eyes
And oh
…each nonsense has its many worshippers
Even murder!
Don’t you see?
Can’t you see?
IV
It is in these streets many are killed
…on rumour pans
It is on these streets many farm enemies
…through opinion seeds
It is on these streets names develop thorns
…to pierce unseen hearts
It is on these streets nothings
…put on thick veils to hide their horrors
…through catapulting the few authentics with insulting stones
Don’t you see?
Can’t you see?
V
Dreams are mostly birthed without roots
…on these streets
Hope can be restored through few touches
…on these streets
Truth can model lies
Lies can model truth
Colours can borrow each other’s shade
…for different perspectives
…on these streets
Who is who is a question better unasked
…on these streets
VI
The most fanned are mostly the stupidest
The most shot down are mostly the most worthy
And liars get the most buyers
On these streets
On these virtual streets
