Money is a haunter

Hunger is the landowner

And pain is the comfy seat

Of Ghana, my Ghana

A Cedi today,

Ten Cedis tomorrow

A promise today,

A hiding tomorrow

Demonstration in succession

Courts and orders

There’s no Christmas for Ghana

Not for Ghana, my Ghana

Delicious foods

Have fled houses

To play on televisions

To flame hunger

Mouths are talking

But who is listening?

“Yentiee obiaa”

Lumba has sealed it

Who thinks of Christmas?

When the stomach rumbles?

No Christmas for Ghana, not for my Ghana

Poor young souls

Think of nice clothes,

Think of sweet candies,

Think of nice meals,

Poor young ones

Hardly do they know

There’s no Christmas for Ghana

Not for Ghana, my Ghana

hungry

No Christmas for Ghana

Inflation of passions!

No Christmas for Ghana

Oh mixed reactions!

No Christmas for Ghana

Pockets with no actions!

No Christmas for Ghana

We’ve reached unfair sanctions!

And the real pure Ghana of the Rurals weep

Too bad, they weep for the Ghana few are keeping

The fabric of all of our societies are coming apart. There was yet another shooting on a college campus today. I know that there are great differences between our lands but at the same time there is a lot the same. All our hearts are crying, all the children are crying. The only thought can be, hope, belief, and a power greater than ourselves.
Peace to you and yours and prayers are only for all who need

It is sad that many lives are wasted on frivolities. It is especially sad when innocent lives suffer for nothing. Sorry Sheldon that something like this happened in your zone. My prayers are with you.

If only someone can do something to put monies into all our pockets. I just wish there were no government and humans lived under un-barbaric kingdoms. The problems will persist with the coming and goings of these unscrupulous politicians that illiterates vote for for some few coins. Sad.

But Amoa, We cannot do away with what most people call the government (let us use the word Administration, why be ‘governed’ by anybody?). Even the MOST primitive villages would have head men and such, and that is administration!
Literacy is useful, but not necessary to stand up and question the administration. People’s Lethargy is the Culprit.
Religious leaders can do a LOT in changing the situation, if only they would remind the people of the evils of greed. But since religious leaders themselves have become greedy, everything stops! đŸ˜¦

Yes everything stops because here, they’re only interested inn duping people with fake prophecies. Well, hope seems to have fled to another planet. And I think we’re being governed because we are not of ourselves. Monies are taken from us as taxes and spent. We have no fixed electricity supply, a funny thing happened yesterday, parliament met and there was light off inn parliament. MP’s were seen using their phones to read. I think this is the worst administration yet. it is amazing,

My Dear Amoa, You have made me cry. I am one of those fools who shiver and have misty eyes when I read things like these. Christmas and Celebrations apart, it is Very Sad, even Horrible, to hear that Hunger stalks Your land.

My Dear Amoa, bad administration (I hate the word government) is the bane of too many countries. I believe that it happens because most people just cast their vote and think that the chosen leaders would just do everything that is needed. Our so called leaders have to be kept in check.

I frequently write on this, and I see that You also do that. Congratulations. Let us pray and work for that day when there would be Justice, Love and Peace.

It’s so sad to read about the hardships people face on an everyday basis. We so often take what we have for granted when there are many who have far less. This poem is very moving!

That’s true. Many people take too many things for granted instead of counting their blessings. Some of them need to live here to experience. We get many of nature’s gifts but never get peace, well except the corrupt or fortunate. It is horrible.

Thanks Irene. But it is so sad. The hardship Ghanaians are facing now is beyond thoughts. I can say for sure that by the tenth of the month, most government workers finish spending their monies and resort to borrowing and hunger. Prizes of things keep increasing, while salaries are static. it is abhorable. Yesterday there was an increment of 17.5 percent on taxes. It is too much now, truly, there won’t be any Christmas for Ghana. Because I know the real Ghanaians, those who don’t cheat and are not corrupt have nothing to celebrate the occasion with.

I don’t think there’s anything. Almost everyone I know is suffering. If I am a teacher and cannot afford to feed, imagine the plight of the jobless. Irene, things keep getting bad although politicians promise they’ll get better.

Sad but yes, I see the same here in Spain, where many are without job and get nothing to live for, they search in the trash and can not afford even a glass of milk for their kids before the school…
