I
Under the charming smiling moon
Where all fireflies gathered to swoon
We met and feel in love so real
It really felt good and surreal
My little coughs brought you concern,
My doom doubts you always discern
I thought our love was so so strong
Where at all did we go so wrong?
CHORUS
I’m truly to be pitied
You’re truly to be pitied
Time has erased happiness on our slate
And written on it some mean hate
II
You did promise me forever
I did promise you forever
Our hearts, like swans, stayed together
Our eyes, like magnet, pulled each other
You were mine, mine, and mine only
I was yours, yours and yours only
Now you and I to none belong
It’s too bad we couldn’t last long
CHORUS
I’m truly to be pitied
You’re truly to be pitied
Time has erased happiness on our slate
And written on it some mean hate
III
I’m desperately looking for clues
Could it be we didn’t pay love’s dues?
Did we cheat happiness in dosage?
That we have to pay hurt this homage?
I may have thrown in some failure fees
You may have thrown in some failure fees
But we’re hurting more than we deserve
Heartbreak is putting us on reserve
CHORUS
I’m truly to be pitied
You’re truly to be pitied
Time has erased happiness on our slate
And written on it some mean hate

this is such a lovely work on relationships …and yet also sad. Meanness should not exist at all in the world.

It shouldn’t. Yet it is, breaking hearts into thousand pieces. Thank you so much for your voice. Blessings.

That is quite an emotive post indeed… and speaks of so much an unfortunate and often seen reality… the art rhymes so well with the song too…

That’s wonderful, Cecilia. Do you have a melody for it?

Trying to get it, not working well right now. I don’t have a good voice so I don’t really bother.

I’d love to hear it. Perhaps others would have a different opinion of your voice?

Rob, I know you sing. If you can give it a melody, you are free to use it, I’ll even try writing more for you. If I get the right melody, I’ll try getting it to you. Trust me, I have a nice talking voice but not a singing voice. Save yourself that trouble of having a nightmare voice on your mind for a long time. Lol.

I don’t know if I can sing, but I’ll make a fool of myself trying to! lol Yes, if you can come up with a melody, I would love to record it.

That makes the two of us. I’m in Ghana you know that. Any way, a digital world. Will work on it and see.
