I am the polished version you hoped for
Tried to account for
But failed to even make sense of
I was like that maths test you always failed
You see me new
And wished you saw some of these traits, even few
But time did take its time to work on me
That’s the luck of the one you see with me
So get over it
Just as I got over you

I am at my peak of patience
I am at my peak of loving
I am at my peak of listening
I am at that peak of giving less attention to frustration
I am at that peak of cutting off those who try to stain my white
I’m still not perfect
But I’m the best version of the me I’ve ever been
So get over the one you knew
Bury that dead version and let go of its ghost
Because keeping that ghost will hurt me none
Remember frustration fears to touch my clothes
…let alone touch my mind

I’ve always been me wearing different perspectives
I’ve always been me with steady growth
I’ve always accepted my journeys in life
And I’ll always be the ever exploring me
No disrespect to you
You met me at a time I knew myself less
So let go of that dead version of me
And move on in your own journey
For your blame can never shoot me
Your anger can never bomb me
Your pity party can never get me drunk
Your accusations will never burn me
It took us two to tango on that messy floor
I now swim in peace
My Now swims in fulfillment
There’s no part of my journey sitting on regret
So let go of my thoughts
…and hold on to your steering
Maybe, just maybe, that vehicle of yours can travel to your peace
Where thoughts of me will be nonexistent
