I did tell you
Your weight was like a coup
Which would wait for no time to oust you
From your throne like a fool
Who antagonizes his servants
…and loses their trust in an internal rebellion
…which he will see not until his ending
But you told me you’re big boned
And your strength was carved and droned
…by a hand which I knew not
You mentioned leaves from cassava to lemon grass
And silenced me like a child
But now look
Look at what stares me in the face
A broken sink
…with no you as a link
I take many a blink
And tears call for a shrink
I should have shouted so loudly
…till your failing parts heard
I should have thrown tantrums like a tempered child till your trumpeting ears felt
I should have brought beings better suited to boss you then
Beings whose tongues could clear stubborn weeds
Stubborn weeds from your hard-grounded ears to create clear paths
But I submitted like a fool on duty with a king
And lost all that was you
Your laughter and calmness
Your skills so secured
Your peaceful presence
I lost that link
That secured my bathroom
…my kitchen and tanks
“Had I Known” surely has no reverse gear
