A CELEBRATION OF LIFE – For Ngugi Wa Thiong’o

I wish there was a way to re-member you
Or a way for you to re-member carbon copies of your spirit
To join the African struggle for total liberation
To lift us to a realm of a fulfilling celebration

II
I wish many will get to read you
To win for their minds many a freedom chit
To join the struggle with inspiration
To stop foul brainwashers from their manipulation

III
No one spoke of the evils of bleaching like you
You did drive words into parking spaces of heads to hit
…Black minds to know their tribulations
…and to fight for their brains’ decolonization

IV
We are grateful for having you
A front man who feared no imperial pit
You led the front for Africanization
…of Africans against imperial colonization

V
Scribes may rest but their words are always in cue
And become more potent with venom and wit
You did wake many to be introspective in a realization
That our continent is ours even in others’ ‘civilization’

VI
So if your soul has laid down its tools
And your body has been recalled by earth
We celebrate to shame death
Because you gave your all and walked into an ancestry of royalty

VII
Rest in power Ngugi!
Rest like the word swordsman you are!
Wear your crown into an afterworld applause so deafening
That the skies open for God to peak
We bless you for blessing us
And wish you peace beyond words
In the yonder world we all will eventually taste

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
