JANE NAANA OPOKU-AGYEMANG

Like a little child
…I get excited
But the past into the present makes me wild
And put out the hope your appearance lighted
That is because of the umbrella that was shot down
Paraded, in the full glare of our town
Time and time again
Its political podiums have blessed us with lying tongues
Which cast doom on our weltanschauung
Will your tongue join those tongues?

II
We trust
They cast corrupt nets, like killers, which burst
The trust
We hope
They throw a rope
…which, like a murderer, chokes our hope
We follow
They dig a disappointing hole
Which, like ‘dreamsnivores’ swallow us whole
Will you do same?

III
The big big grammars inspire the chants
The huge huge promises do turn our eyes
But the jabs are theatrical  punches we oh so know
So will you walk your talk?
Can you break the can’ts?
We hope a mandate will not slay our state
And make us bite our tongues
For we have come too far to kowtow
To  the same tricks that trap us in lies
Throwing us into dirty seas of disappointment
…and regrets

Just a simple Ghanaian trying to find the best in our society. I may be fun, I may be interesting, I may be funny, I may even be foolish or intelligent, but it is all based on the mood in which you find yourself. I believe our minds make us who we are. Know that, pain, no matter its 'unbearability', is transient. Unburden or delight yourself for a while in my writings please. And all corrections, advice and opinions are welcome. Know that you are the king, queen or royal on this blog. :)
