This is a poem I’ll forever treasure. I wrote it together with a very good father, being one who always wondered about my real father who I never got the chance to meet, I took a tour with Nana Awere Damoah into his thoughts in the grave. What a beautiful poem we came up with, this is just an excerpt.
“AMOAFOWAA:
He was nowhere to be found
I grew never spending his pound
I heard he lived so profound
But he was in the mortar of hypertension pound
His thoughts were buried where it could never be found
He has joined the earth
And so my thinking wheel sets forth
Nana, I want to get into his head
Through your head
Do you ever think he’d have been proud
To have a seed growing in another part without his Midas touch?
NANA:
A father never loses his seed
Even though he may not pay heed
Certain I am sure he never forgot
Even from afar, even abroad
Why he kept away
Why he reached out not
Who but God alone
Can say
One thing surely
I can say
A father never forgets…”
