Papa, I don’t know what to learn
When you say I should learn, I can’t say know
They say “cell” is not “sell”
“Bank” has different meanings
But has no tag for differences
They say soul is not sole
That you can see one and can’t see the other
They say sort is not sought
But must be pronounced equally
There is a pen and a pen
All spelt and pronounced equally
What am I to do?
I learn this and they say it’s that
Just look at the word “appendix”
I even here it is a sickness and some part of a book
And I was told hear in the classroom
Papa, stop worrying yourself
It is a language I cannot learn
You cannot explain the confusion
Neither can the teacher
All were made by confused people
So help me to make ours
One we’ll have no problem learning.
